OUR CLERGY TEAM

There are currently five ordained ministers (clergy) who are licensed by the Diocesan Bishop to serve at Cornerstone Church in their various roles.  Our clergy team includes:

The Rev. DALE CONSTABLE (Deacon); The Rev. GEORGE COOKNELL (Honorary Assistant); The Rev. GUS KETOLA (Honorary Assistant); The Rev. CHRIS WILLIAMS (Honorary Assistant); The Rev. ROBERT ROE (Rector/Lead Pastor).

THE REV. ROBERT ROE

Our Lead Pastor (known as "Rector" in Anglican terminology) is The Rev. Robert Roe.  He and his wife are parents of (what are now) three adult children.  Since early 2025, becoming grandparents was added to their family resume.  In addition to time spent with family, The Rev. Robert is very involved in the Sarnia community, enjoys being at the cottage 'up north', is an avid gardener, attends both Sarnia Sting and Sarnia Legionnaires hockey games, 'loves' to talk geography with fellow 'geography buffs', and is also a school bus driver.  The Rev. Robert was born and raised in Sarnia.  He is a graduate of Hanna Memorial School (Sarnia), Sarnia Central Collegiate Institute (Sarnia), The University of Western Ontario (London), and finally, Wycliffe College (University of Toronto) where he was prepared for church-based ministry, and subsequently, was granted his Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree in May 1990.  He was ordained an Anglican Deacon in May 1995 and an Anglican Priest in November 1995.  In July 2012, he became a licensed Priest in what is now known as The Anglican Diocese of Canada to serve as Rector of the then new 'church plant' Cornerstone Anglican Church.  For about 25 years, The Rev. Robert was also very active in children and youth ministries at Christian camps throughout Ontario, and within churches and various Christian organizations.  He has also been certified to teach discipleship and evangelism courses associated with Sonlife Ministries, bible studies with Precept Ministries, and is a released 'lead' Prayer Minister with Victorious Ministry Through Christ (Canada) and Victorious Ministry Through Christ (International).

THE REV. DALE CONSTABLE

Our Deacon is The Rev. Dale Constable.  He and his wife, Tracy, reside in the municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, Ontario (which is approximately 35 kilometres west of London and 65 kilometres east of Sarnia).  They have three adult children, and a grandson.  As members of the local Horticultural Society, The Rev. Dale and Tracy share their love of gardening by volunteering, along with other Society members, their time to ensure community gardens remain beautiful during the warmer months.  Originally from the St. Mary's, Ontario area, The Rev. Dale and his family are able to return there often due to having a trailer at a nearby Conservation Area where they enjoy campfires, canoeing, and hiking.  In 2020, The Rev. Dale completed his theological studies at Huron University College in London.  He works as a certified Chaplain at St. Joseph's Health Centre in the same city.  In February 2026, he was ordained as a Deacon in The Anglican Diocese of Canada.  He, along with Tracy, provide ministry leadership primarily at the Cornerstone London location (which, still small in numbers, is growing).  From time to time, they also support various ministries at the Cornerstone Sarnia site.

THE REV. GEORGE COOKNELL

Ordained as an Anglican Deacon on March 9, 2014 and an Anglican Priest on November 29, 2015, The Rev. George Cooknell serves as an Associate Priest within the Cornerstone Church family.  The Rev. George normally attends the 10:00am worship service in Sarnia where he assists the Rector by reading scripture, leading portions of the liturgy, and on occasion, preaches and is the Celebrant during holy communion.  The Rev. George spends a large amount of ministry time providing pastoral care, upholding the church family in prayer as a valued participant on Cornerstone's Prayer Team, and as a Worship Services Officiant during weekly phone calls to parishioners who are no longer able to attend in-person worship due to health issues.  As for any children who come to Cornerstone Church, The Rev. George's 'heart' for them leads him to much time spent in prayer that they would personally meet and know the Saviour Jesus, or if they already know Him, that they would grow and mature in their friendship with Him.

THE REV. GUS KETOLA

Prior to becoming members of Cornerstone Church, The Rev. Gus and his wife served as missionaries in [countries] with the Christian organization known as Pioneers Canada.  The Rev. Gus was ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal (Anglican) Diocese Of Egypt (that includes North Africa & the Horn of Africa) on October 22, 2006, and ordained as a Priest in the same Diocese on June 15, 2009.  For a period of time, their ministry-base was Christ The King Anglican Church in Tripoli, Libya (Africa).  Meanwhile in Canada, both The Rev. Gus and his wife are very active in serving our Lord Jesus along with the other parishioners that are part of the Cornerstone London family.  In addition to The Rev. Gus preaching and assisting with the officiating at worship services in London, he also leads a mid-week bible study held in the Cherryhill Village Mall (London).  When their schedule permits, The Rev. Gus and his wife travels to Sarnia for the 10:00am worship service on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

THE REV. CHRIS WILLIAMS

At one time, The Rev. Chris Williams lived in South Africa.  Eventually, he moved to the province of Ontario where he continued serving, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in various church congregations within the Anglican Diocese of Toronto and the Anglican Diocese of Huron.  The Rev. Chris began attending Cornerstone Sarnia during the spring of 2019.  He, along with The Rev. Gus and his wife, and The Rev. Dale and his wife (Tracy), became the original group of parishioners in what is now known as Cornerstone London.  The first Sunday worship service took place at an apartment in north London during the Fall of 2019.  The Rev. Chris has assisted the Rector via preaching, being a Celebrant during holy communion, leading liturgy, and pastoral care both in Sarnia and London since 2019.  Many thanks to The Rev. Chris for his part in having the London Sunday worship services moved to the Elmwood Long Term Care Home.
